Shostka of a bygone era in photos

For the second time PHARMHIM became the general sponsor of the photo contest “Shostka and Shostka residents” dedicated to the 275th anniversary of the city.

More than 100 black and white photos featured at the competition in 3 categories (“Urban Landscape”, “History in Faces”, “Shostka – from century to century”), which captured Shostka and its residents in different periods of the 20^th century. Winners were elected by the residents of the city and the region, who voted for their favorite photos in the social network “Odnoklassniki”. A record number of votes were given to the photo of baths in pioneer camp “Orlyonok” (nomination “Landscape”) – 240 likes. Photographs of 1901 and 1905 were saved in the family archives of participants, including images of the famous pre-revolutionary photo chronicler from Shostka Ivan Karpov.

Deputy General director of general issues Larisa Yakubenko presented monetary prizes to the four winners.

– Vintage black and white photography is the quintessence of the history, culture, philosophy, fashion, moods of those times, so the management of the company is interested in preserving all the documentary evidence of a bygone era for the descendants, – said Larisa Yakubenko.
